AP Testing Information Spring 2021

AP Exam Information Spring 2021

October 14, 2020 Update

The Advanced Placement Coordinators from the five FUSD comprehensive high schools have reviewed the criteria which details how students may be eligible to take an Advanced Placement (AP) examination. The coordinators have altered the criteria as follows:

Any students who are interested in taking an AP Exam as self-study or exam only may sign up through their school’s Total Registration website (links can be found below). These students will be placed on a waiting list. While payment will be asked, payments are only processed if a student is moved from the waiting list to the testing roster.

If and when space is available, students will be notified and have a window of opportunity to accept the open seat for the exam.  It is important to note that while we are hopeful conditions will allow for more test spaces to be available, spaces will be given to students who are enrolled in a specific AP course first. From the waiting list, preference for seating self-study students will be given to students in grades 12 on down.

Should the College Board revert to an online only test (not in-person) students that have indicated they would like to take the test will be accepted, pending payment. Students must sign up now (by October 23) to get on the waiting list.  FUSD will not accept any students to the waiting list after our AP enrollment period closes.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through AP testing during a national pandemic. As there are more developments with AP and COVID we will keep you informed.

Advanced Placement Exam Registration Information 2020-2021
Registration Period: Monday, Sept. 28, 2020 at 3 PM- Friday, Oct. 23,
2020 at 3 PM

As of September 2020, College Board, the company that owns Advanced Placement testing, is currently stating that 2021 AP testing will be in person. As we learned last year, that is subject to change based on conditions with the continuing pandemic. FUSD will update our community as more information is shared by College Board.

When enrolling in AP testing, students and families should assume the testing will be in person.                     FUSD is encouraging every student who is interested in taking part in 2021 AP testing to sign up for testing by October 23, 2020. If testing conditions change due to the pandemic and AP exams are cancelled, your money will be refunded.

FUSD Advanced Placement (AP) information can be found at the FUSD AP website.

Eligibility
Please review this  flowchart to see if you are eligible to take the test. AHS students, grade 10-12, are eligible to take AP exams.

FUSD will follow state, county, and city health guidelines when planning in-person test administration. Due to space limitations, some students who sign up may not be able to test and will not be charged. AHS will do their best to accommodate all students who sign up in the enrollment period. Students and families will be notified as soon as possible of their status. All costs will be refunded.

Please note that due to space and facility limitations, some AP exams will not be available to students who self study. AP exams have limited availability for those that would like to self study the exam. Students that self study must meet district-approved prerequisites for the AP course as outlined in the FUSD course catalog. Those enrolled in the course at AHS will have priority and those that wish to self study, will be given spots based on availability. All self study students that register for one of the exams below will be placed on a waitlist and processed individually.

FUSD high schools offer families the ability to pay for their exam fees online at the time of registration through the website Total Registration. Please be sure to have a credit card or debit card available before beginning registration.

Steps necessary to register for AP tests:

  • 1.   Students will need to register on the College Board website. In order to register, students
  • must use the unique join codes you received from your AP teachers. You will need a personal email for each student account (no FUSD GAFE accounts). Each teacher and each teacher’s period has a specific join code for the course AP exam. If you don't already have a College Board account, you will need to make one. You will indicate on the site whether or not you plan to take the exam in May. If you plan to take multiple AP exams, you will need a specific join code per course per teacher per period.
  •
  • 2.   Students must also register & pay for the exam on the Total Registration
  • site, https://totalregistration.net/AP/050974 If you already created an account last year, please use the same account log in and email. You will need a personal email from student (no FUSD GAFE accounts). Using the same join codes (provided by your AP teacher) mentioned above, you will register and pay for your exams.

If you do not complete these two steps and pay for your exams on the Total Registration website by the deadline of October 23, 2020, an AP exam will not be ordered for you.

**Students will be contacted through schoolloop if the school needs to contact them about their AP exam registration. Be sure to check your schoolloop messages regularly for additional updates and reminders.
